Prom- A night to remember 4/12/14
12/12/2014 10:04:00 AMIn case you don't know why do we ( my friends and I ) have to plan prom ourselves, here's why:
http://musiclover-shuen.blogspot.com/2014/06/prom-night-maybe.html
It was hectic. Most importantly, Abby and I start to really plan it DURING trials and SPM. We felt so guilty for actually doing those kinda stuffs when we know our first priority is SPM. But if we didn't do it, there won't be prom.
Kudos to my bae, Abby. She played the biggest role in making prom happen. I love you.
From asking to planning to booking, it wasn't easy at all. We had to choose between places, the food they offer, the environment, making sure that it's cost efficient so everyone could come. From making budget, printing out the tickets and collecting the money from everyone. Now that I think of it, I'm impressed that we, as high school students, with zero prior knowledge as an event planner, are able to pull it off. And I have to thank Abby once again 'cause she was the one constantly interacting with the hotel authorities for our event.
Speaking of tickets. Abby designed it on her iPhone 5s through an app.

Everything, on a phone. Ma bae did this. |
I just went to buy some 2-sheet-card so that the tickets aren't flimsy and printed it out to save the cost to have them printed outside.
We actually wanted a photobooth and we contacted almost every photobooth that we could find. But it was veryyy expensive even after dividing the money among 80 people, so we dropped the idea. And went for our very own DIY photobooth. The DIY guru among my friends and I, is none other than, yet again, my bae. Hahaha. Lol be grateful that I'm actually praising you so much. xp
Check out her blog!
Abby created a FB page for us to estimate the number of people who are interested to go to prom. After all, I think it is the first ever high school prom party every held in Port Dickson, some may even not know what is prom.
We were reluctant to be the organizers at first. Firstly, we are all underage. And secondly, we're afraid that people will smoke and drink alcohol and we'll get caught by police or some forces. Thirdly, teenagers, party, hotel, rooms. What strikes your mind first is the one that we're worried of.
But like I said, if we weren't gonna plan this, who will? Clenching our teeth and balancing between both studies and planning wasn't an easy feat. This is where my stubbornness of wanting a prom actually became useful for once.
We waited all the way until 2 days before prom to buy the stuffs that we need lol. Since Christmas is drawing near, the decos are already on sale. We decided to use the Christmas decorations as our backdrop for our photobooth. We yanked them in our trolley, as well as party poppers and sprays.
Due to a medical appointment on the day we decorate the hall, which is in the morning of the actual day, I could only be there for like 30 minutes or so. My mummy went zumba classes so Kah Lin's dad fetched me there. Abby was having slight fever and she fell down, causing her to have a quite obvious bruise on her knee. Fortunately, she was gonna wear a long gown.
So what medical appointment that I had that was more important than planning prom? You can read that grandma story here in a different post.
Straight after I'm done with the hospital issues, I rushed back to Paradise Spa. Oh I forgot to mention. the whole top floor was ours. From the sky cafe till the swimming pools outside. We chose that place because it has a very nice scenic view. Compared to just plain Chinese restaurants for every single function. ( No racism whatsoever, just stating the fact )
We were very worried of whether there was enough space to fit us all in but luckily it was fine as quite a few people were outside by the pool. I didn't regret holding it at Paradise Spa Hotel. The view was magnificent. Sorry for the doubts before this bae.
Okay coming back. I was told that they finished decorating the hall and my mom drove away already. TT We made an impromptu decision by going to the salon to wash and set our hair. Vanilla, bae, Tan and I went to Evon, the shop near my house and I went there often. Tan was sitting at the sofa watching us. Hahhaa. So sorry. xp
After that, my mom drove me all the way to the Poslaju office at Lukut to mail out my exemption letter. Yea we could've just used the normal mailing method but my mom wanted it to be safely delivered for sure. And fast. We went back home. I changed into my dress, ate some super duper oily kuih ( first meal of the day btw = at 4pm, only that day though ), and rushed to Abby's house.
Upon reaching Abby's house I was really stunned by her house, it was under construction. I made my way up to her room, Tan was there already, Vanilla joined me after that. And we all went haywire choosing dresses, changing clothes (not me though), applying make up and stuffs. I didn't know my DD cream was thaaaaat pale of a colour. I looked like a friggin' vampire after I applied it. Once again, bae to the rescue. I dashed on the matte powder all over my face with a fluffy brush. Ahh, so much better. I put on a few coats of mascara, tried to shape my eyebrow a little and that was it.
We're lucky that Paradise Spa was just a few 100 metres away. We reached there and we faced another problem. We had to arrange the tables and seats ourselves.
Screw the so-called flawless look for the night. I sweat a little while carrying the tables and chairs here and there. Fortunately the guys were there to help. Thank youuu. TT
After that we were basically just saying hi to everyone and chatting away. Since everyone was paiseh to take the food, I was the first. Hah.
C'mon, we'll have to eat eventually. Since I'm the slowest eater out of everyone, allow me.
And it was all about taking photos everywhere we go and as many as we can. It was finally the dancing time, and for once, I danced like mad to every hit songs played. Jumping and shaking my body like nobody's business. I wanted to say I'm one of them at clubbling but I couldn't because I've never been to one. Yet.
I bet everyone was like, "What is wrong with her, man?"
Well, Merry Christmas.
For slow songs, I danced with my prom partner, Erick. Here is how he asked me from prom, hahaha. xD Ps, I'm gonna kill you if I ever found out the price for the Hatsune Miku figure.
As almost everyone was watching I couldn't help but danced awkwardly. Very. Awkwardly. I'm sorryyyyyyy. TT But I was grateful for you being my prom partner, so thank you. =]
It was an endless night filled with so much fun. I was still dancing after a very long time. Together with my hongie~ <3 Hahha we aren't called sapo for no reason ehh. xp
There was a special performance by Janson, Kah Lin, Eugene, Johnson. They were dancing to the Red People, "I very ku very shuai" song. Gosh I laughed so so sooo hard. Hhahahah. xD
And it was finally the time for prize giving awards. a few of us were in charged of nominating the names. The winner was picked by the audience by the loudness of their cheer.
Best Dressed (girl) : Jaaishree
Best Dressed (guy) : Satvinder (Erick was nominated! Hahahha)
Best Dancer (girl): Lay
Best Dancer (guy): Eugene ( I nominated you~)
Best Eater: Anis ( Erick was nominated again~ Hahahha)
Prom King: Shawn
Prom Queen: Kaa Yoke
( Prom King and Queen were chosen individually, not as a couple )
PHOTOSSSSSS.
