Prom Night Maybe?

6/06/2014 11:50:00 PM

So I was looking through Facebook and some people were uploading their Prom Night photos and the idea just came to me.

Why don't we have a prom night?   =(

Well basically we all know who to blame. The tradition of not having a prom night for graduating seniors AND some people's immature and childish mindset.

"Ohh, prom night? With alcohol, revealing dresses and physical contact with boys?" is what strike their minds first. Well this is what I've got to say. How do you know? Have you been to one before? If not how are you so sure those things are gonna happen?

See? Checkmate. You lose.

As the disappointment of watching friends from other states and other schools having their prom night or just even a graduating party, the idea of holding our own prom night stroke me. Our own memorable night. No one's gonna use the school rules or whatsoever to go against this as this is our private party. It's something like a huge scale birthday party, with no birthday boy or girl. Now, who's with me? ;D

Are we really doing this?

I can't say for sure. To make this wish come true, I can't be doing this alone. But I'm sure lots of people out there are willing to help to put a stop to a miserable graduation WITHOUT a party.

As for when are we gonna plan all those and stuffs, some of my friends and I decided to plan it all after SPM in one month's time. I've never really planned a special birthday party for myself ( Just casual ones ) yet alone this HUGE scale party. And I bet everyone will have superbly high expectations to that promising night. So much help is appreciated.

( My note to self )

The things to prepare and decide:
1) The ballroom ( the venue )
2) The date ( Preferably in early December, say 12/12/14? A nice number ehh? xp )
3) The time ( 6pm- 12 am ? ) Ughh my mom's gonna kill me for this.
4) The price ( based on the ballroom rental, the food, the decorations and prizes )
5) The tickets (get it designed and printed out )
6) The theme ( to be informed to all those who are attending as a one month's prior notice before the actual day)

What's the theme for the night?

Now here comes what I feel is the most interesting and important event. ;D

I have three themes currently in mind, and coincidentally, all three starts with a letter 'M'.

Magical / Mystery / Masquerade

Magical

The idea for the Magical theme is set to be similar to Disney's princesses stories, but to be more exact, Cinderella's story. This theme is more to girls as they can choose to wear colour pop dresses with their own preferences without any restrictions ( in colour ). Lol I just have to state that as we don't want anyone wearing too revealing clothes. xp

Mystery
Based on the movie, 007. As to why I thought of this theme is mainly because of the guys.

To: All guys out there
SUIT AND TIE. And that means tuxedo. No jeans allowed. Any slackers out there will get it from me. =/

"Ehh, like this where got fair? Girls lehh?"

Hold your horses. Girls are to have make-up on. The last time I had make-up was when I was six, I looked like a friggin clown with big red lips, all for the performance's sake. No, I ain't uploading anymore childhood photos as my fear of Abby enlarging and screenshot-ing my blur face still lingers in my mind. =p

But there's one problem to this theme for girls. We can only wear black or white dresses which is gonna cause a huge ruckus ( girl problem ) for sure.

Here's a picture for how I got the idea of the theme.
Taadaaa. Perfect for the 007 theme ain't it?

Masquerade

This idea was brought forth by Qin jie~ She suggested to have it as she always wanted to have party with this theme. So I thought it isn't a bad idea at all!

To those who are unsure of what's a masquerade party, it's a party where girls wear like those olden days ball gowns ( which I think it's gonna cause another problem to find it again ) with masks on to hide their identity. In this era of globalisation ( Too much of essay writing hahah ), the masquerade party has to evolve along with the era too, so what we're gonna do, we wear our modern days prom gown and with masks on. Problem solved.

I just so happen to spot this while I was looking up for photos on Google.
This is so so so cool.

Also if you have any other themes in mind please do share it out. It's gonna be everyone's perfect night so I don't want to be selfish and own all the credits to myself.

*Kindly vote for your preferred theme using the poll list at the top left sidebar on my blog if you're using computer~ Don't say dunno dunno, just vote.

AND NOW.

Here comes what everyone is afraid of attending the prom night.

Me no prom partner lehh. I go like this very sia suey de lehh. (very embarassing)

Dear friend, you are not alone.

Being hardcore geeks as we are, we have now finally realized our lives were always this miserable. No boyfriend and girlfriend ( well except one or two ) at this age = no prom partner.

Forget that idea.

We can just constantly switch our prom partners if this is case lol.

Note: This only apply to loners.
Those who got prom partners (aka bf/gf) already head on and enjoy the lovely night together. Don't barge in and rub salt to our wounds. How sorrowful it sounds.

As majority of us are loners, ask a close friend of yours to dance with you.

SPEAKING OF DANCING...

What are the events for the night?

I understand that most people will not want to dance all night long. Unfortunately I myself don't know what we should do. We'll have performances to kill time. That's for sure.

We'll have our talented Miss Abigail Sua to sing for us on that night. Decided.

As for the emcee and DJ, they both play a significant role. I've no idea who is willing to volunteer. Maybe we can hire people for the emcee-ing and DJ-ing.

What are the prizes that will be given out?

Definitely, prom king and queen. But to save money and being our usual cheapskate-selves, we'll probably just buy a RM2 crown at pasar malam as their prize. Better than nothing right? No fancy fancy prize. Why? You got money or not? If got you sponsor. Deal or no deal? Hahah.

**Another important note. Those with tickets only can enter. And to own the ticket they must pay first, so we won't have the problem of slackers or yolos not paying money and attending prom free. Ain't gonna happen yolo peeps out there.

FINALLY.

Another one of the most important things ever.

Ever thought of having a photobooth for the prom night?

With the photobooth you can have photos printed out instantly like the polaroid photo concept, but much cooler and way more awesome.

Apparently I stumbled upon WOW Photobooth while I was reading a blogger's post. Click here to view more. I think this will be like the most attractive thing throughout the night. I really do hope they don't decline our request though. TT Head to their FAQ to know about their services.

This is the photobooth Vanilla's brother used during his wedding. So we've got basically two choices to choose. Click here.

And that's pretty much the end.

I bet I missed out some stuffs here and there. This is a rough figure on the prom party. I really do hope most of you are interested in this. TT And hey,

What's graduation without a prom night?

Ps. Don't forget to vote for your preferred theme!

With love.
