Things that I don't understand
12/18/2014 06:44:00 AMI have to emphasis, whatever I'm gonna write in this blog post is solely MY own opinion. As I'm living in a democratic country, I believe it is my right as a citizen to raise up my opinion that's within the boundary of law.
It's not like I'm gonna say something that serious lol.
The things I'm gonna mention are just some things that are currently in trend or have been in trend for quite some time now that I simply couldn't understand why, either money wise or in other terms.
For example.
1) Daniel Wellington watches
I gotta say, the watches have a very classic and simple design that can be worn to any occasions be it casual outings or during formal events. The clean cut design draws me in as I seek for those qualities in a watch.
But what I don't get is, the price.
I heard that it costs around USD 175-199. Which is around RM600-700.
Like I said, yes it has a unique design to it despite its simplicity but the cost is simply... Out of reach. At least out of my league lah. I can be very kiam siap ( stingy ) at times but I'm sure many out there agrees with me too right?
Don't be persuaded by your friends who have the watches and flash it every single time in front of you. The trend will soon be over and you'll come to realization later whether it was worth it for you to fork out that amount of expenses when you're already on a tight budget.
2) EXCESSIVE make up
Make up is essential especially in the era where looks ( and money ) wins it all. I don't criticize that. It can make you more beautiful and more confident. I don't see the reason to hate.
But, when someone applies excessive make up, it's different.
For what I feel, girls make up mostly to impress guys or someone they love. But when excessive make up is applied like lady gaga or the make up of most of the models nowadays that are modelling for a magazines, it turn guys down.
Even for me, I'll feel like "Eww, wth."
Make up is to make someone prettier or more beautiful, not to "uglify" someone okay.
That's why I'll never understand fashion and art.
3) Pandora bracelet / other brands of equal standard
I'm talking about the authentic ones. As I know the charms are handcrafted by the finest and best people out there, I still don't get why the cheapest charm can still goes up to RM128.
One tiny miserable circular thingy. Imagine if you lose it lol.
Yes indeed it is beautiful as a charm bracelet and I myself like it too. Well maybe it's me again being my kiam siap-self and not giving in to these branded goods.
I feel that rather to have something so expensive on your wrist and maybe end up getting your hand chopped off by thieves, it's better to buy something that is cost efficient, or something that is equal to that amount for one full bracelet instead of one charm, and donate the balance.
I'm not trying to show off that I'm such a kind hearted, thoughtful etc etc person, just that when there's a chance where the money can save someone by buying food using the donated amount, is it necessary for the society with higher earnings to spend them on luxurious goods?
There's no end to luxury. Human kind is greedy. Every single person is. There's no end to chasing wealth, so why not lead a life that you're able to contribute to those who are in need?
It's not that you're a bad person by having those things that I mentioned. It's your money, of course it's your right to spend it. Also it's the money that you've earn and of course it's also natural for you to fulfill your desire of having them.
There's no right or wrong thing to this situation. Like I said, these are just my opinions.
xoxo
